I am an artist that works in a wide range of media, blending painting, wood burning, jewelry and sculpture. Most of my art resists taking life too seriously, and generates curiosity. It is inspired by fairy tales, love for animals and my family. I use magic realism conveyed by vivid imagination of stories and fanciful creatures. Often, part of my process is to read fairy tales before creating, and imagine a story of my own. I create images that urge others to use their imagination, or draw a happy memory.
Biography
Ariel Anderson moved to Walla Walla in 2007 from Yakima, Washington, where she grew up and began painting in elementary school. Her mother’s first major was in art, taught her how to paint, and always encouraged creativity. In high school, she took art classes when she could at the community college to learn different techniques of creating art. While in Walla Walla, she gained her Registered Nurse license, and has enjoyed painting as a creative outlet from her day work of helping keep people healthy.
